Upcoming Learning Opportunities for Nonprofit Leaders

In 2026 our Evergreen partners are scheduled to be out and about presenting various technical topics to educate the nonprofit community on compliance and accounting best practices. See below for various upcoming opportunities to participate in these learning seminars offered by some of our community partners and taught by the Evergreen team.

Gift-in-Kind Standards Updates – at OneOC

Gift-in-kind (GIK) contributions—such as donated goods, services, or property—are an important resource for many nonprofit organizations, but recent updates to accounting standards have changed the way these contributions must be recognized, valued, and reported. This training, led by an experienced CPA firm, will help nonprofit leaders, finance staff, and board members understand the latest requirements, avoid compliance pitfalls, and build confidence in their financial reporting.

Understanding 990s – at The Nonprofit Partnership

This course is focused on providing exempt organization personnel and board members with guidance as well as valuable resources and tools to ensure they possess the requisite knowledge regarding review of the Form 990. This includes both quantitative and qualitative aspects of the Form 990, going beyond the figures to understand the “story” being reported on an exempt organization’s annual information return. Participants will learn how to step out of the numbers and into the message being conveyed to the public regarding the impact that the exempt organization is having on the local community and society as a whole. Ultimately, attendees will not only be able to read and interpret the Form 990, but translate that into process improvements and potential funding opportunities.
